Business Cards Online Today
High Quality Business Cards without full-colour photos are usually printed
using spot colours on sheet-fed offset printing presses. Some
companies have gone so far as to trademark their spot colours
such as UPS brown, Tide's orange, and Los Angeles Lakers'
purple. If your business card logo is a single colour and the
type is another colour, this process is called two colour.
More spot colours may be added dependent on the needs of the
card. For the company with many people needing business
cards, a shell program is often advisable. Pre-printed shells
with your logo can be produced, then imprinted with individual
names as required. With the arrival of digital printing and
batch printing, it is now more cost effective to print
business cards in full colour.

Raised Print
Business Cards
create the "raised-print" effect of printing with engraved
plates. A less expensive process called thermography was
industrialized that uses the application of a plastic powder,
which sticks to the wet ink. The cards are then passed through
a hot unit, which melts the plastic onto the card.

Full Colour Business Cards, or cards with many
colours are printed on a sheet fed press using a CMYK
four-colour printing process. Each colour over printed on one
another create a great selection of colours, like that of a
photo.

Glossy UV Business Cards
can also be coated with a UV glossy coat. The UV
coat is applied with another ink using another unit, or a
sheet fed press. UV coats can sometimes be applied as a spot
coating meaning areas are coated, and other areas are left
uncoated. UV business card coating gives a High Gloss Finish
which adds more prestige and it protects from smudging or
colour fading.

Business Card Bleed -
Designers of business
cards give bleeds if the colour goes over to the edge of the
final cut size. A bleed is colour print over the cut lines.
This is to help ensure that the paper will cut without white
edges due to very small differences in where the blade cuts
the cards, and it is almost impossible to cut the cards
properly without. Just being a hair off can result in white
lines, and the blade itself will pull the paper while cutting.
The image on the paper can also shift from page to page which
is called a bounce, which is generally off by a hairline on an
offset press, but can be quite large on lower end equipment
such as a copier or a duplicator press. Larger presses have
much better colour alignment (registration), but still
requires the careful skill of a highly trained press operator.
Bleeds are typically an extra 3.175 (1/8) to 6.35 mm (1/4 in)
to all sides of the card.

Express Business Cards
can be printed with a digital copier, which uses
toner heated on to the face of the card. Industry leaders have
begun to avoid using the term copier, insisting their new
machines are like digital presses, than their predecessors. BUSINESS
